A person, regarded as thoroughbred, is characterised as educated, he or she has moral and spiritual values. If you want to understand the essence of life, so, decide for yourself how many times you have thought your life over; if you wish others to be kind, so, ask yourself a question if you are a kind person or not; when you strive for helping other people, so, first of all, you are better to explore your own soul.
Russian literature always touched upon moral searches of Russians. The renowned authors usually arouse the question connected with morality and they tried to solve the battle between good and evil, moral values and human dignity, dishonesty and justice, etc. One of the prolific writers, Valentin Rasputin, is really aware of the moral question within our society. The Narrative “Fire” (1985) finds its special place among the author`s writings. “Fire” represents some speculation on one of the compatriots; this story is about civic duty and courage, and moral issues. The gist of the story is as follows: a fire started in Sosnovka and all villagers came to the place that was caught by fire, but they were not able to do away with that fire element. Some of the countrymen, risking their lives, were courageous to save others out of the fire.
Pain runs through the whole story, and the reader is willing to scream: “We cannot live this way anymore!” Fire is just a dark reflection of what overshadows our souls. The author highlights the following idea: it is scary if any person sees only a lie instead of a truth. During the burning of a fire the main character discovered the truth: a person should be a master of his native soil but not an indifferent lodger, it is important to get closer to the nature, listening to your heart.
This story teaches to be truthful and generous, not hurting feelings of other people around you. You might get it by means of the learning the moral within your family, at school or in the society. Literature forms our vision of life, forms the cognition, it makes us see the beauty that we cannot even observe in everyday life.
