Job Description
Knewton is a small company with a big mission: revolutionizing the practice of education with the world’s most powerful adaptive learning platform. It’s a lofty goal, but our customers, partners, and investors think we’re on to something. We were voted among the top places to work in NYC, and we were recently recognized as a 2011 Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum at Davos alongside Foursquare, SecondMarket, and other innovators.
We’re looking for a sharp, web-savvy Visual Designer to join our team. Hands-on design chops are priority number one. Projects move fast at Knewton, so you should hit the ground ready to lead creative development on our website, conversion channels, display advertising, and infographics.
In order to accomplish this, the Visual Designer must understand and be able to extend visual systems for a project, taking into consideration not only how it looks but how it fits into the evolving Knewton look and feel. You should obsess over design, but also get fired up about conversion rates; social media experiments; and dead-simple, attention-grabbing messaging.
Strong communication skills are a must, and basic coding chops (HTML, CSS) will make you an especially attractive candidate. Individuals with agency design experience for Fortune 500 companies will be given preference. Above all else, we’re looking for someone who’s self-driven, curious, and excited to join a lean, dedicated, fast-moving team.
Applications should include a short resume and portfolio of work to demonstrate skill level. Please indicate the extent/area worked for group/corporate projects. Show us your best work.

Strong marketing instincts and willingness to work with a diverse team
Strong portfolio with experience in visual design for the web, including SaaS and/or e-commerce work
/> Ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams

Company Description
Knewton has developed the industry’s most powerful adaptive learning engine, customizing educational content to meet the individual needs of each student.
Whereas textbooks and other traditional content vehicles provide the same material to every student, Knewton dynamically matches lessons, videos, and practice problems to each student’s ideal learning arc. Constant assessment across dimensions such as difficulty, frequency, and medium maximizes learning efficiency and concept mastery.
Our Adaptive Learning Platform™ currently powers our test prep courses. We’ve begun to make it available to select partners, and soon the platform will be open to educators and organizations everywhere.
Knewton was founded by Jose Ferreira, a former executive at Kaplan, with funding from Accel Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners, FirstMark Capital, First Round Capital, and prominent angel investors. Knewton plans to apply its online adaptive learning to a wide range of education markets. For more information, please visit www. knewton. com
