Письмо новорожденному сыну / Letter to a newborn son

Dear son,

It`s 4 o`clock in the morning and you are asleep cradled in my left hand and I am learning the skill of one-handed typing. Since you`ve arrived, days have melted into nights and back again. I am learning the new art of feeding and winding as well as nappy changing and enjoying these occasional moments of quite.

Your coming has turned me upside down and inside out. So much that seemed essential to me has, in past few days, taken on a different colour. Like many 21st century people I have lived the life, which has been balancing at the edge: working non-stop for 14 hours, exceeding speed limits, eating junk food, jet laggings. And now looking at you sleepy face, I wonder how I could have ever thought that glory and prizes were sweeter than life?!

Now I finally understood that nothing can be better than holding you my arms and whistling you a quite tune to keep you peaceful. And I must tell you that when you let out your first powerful cry in the delivery room and I became a mother, I thought about the whole world which could hear through the infinity you proud statement of arrival. I t was the sound of hope for the whole mankind and new beginnings that you and all your innocence and freshness have brought to the world.
