Moscow

Moscow is a capital of Russia, our country’s cultural, political and business center. It was founded by Yuri Dolgoruky in 1147 and since this year Moscow became more and more powerful. In the 13th century, Moscow was one of the struggles of Russian Land for liberation from the tartar yoke. Moscow became the capital of Russia in the 16th century.

Though Peter the Great moved the capital in St. Petersburg in 1712, Moscow remained the heart of Russia. That is why Moscow was the main target for Napoleon, during the war in 1812, and Hitler, during The World War II.

But after October revolution Moscow was the capital again. Now Russia capital is one of the largest cities in Europe. Moscow’s area is about nine hundred square kilometers and its population is about 12 millions people.

Moscow is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The heart of Moscow is Red Square. It has more historic associations than any other place in Moscow. There are a lot of beautiful places, old mansions, cathedrals, churches and monuments in Moscow.

Now this city is being reconstructed, in next few years will be build new stadiums and other sports objects and we all hope that in few years the city will become even more beautiful. There are more than one hundred museums in Moscow, such as the Puskin Museum of Fine Arts, Shilov’s Picture Gallery, State Tretyakov Gallery and others. Moscow is famous for its theatres. The best known of them is The Bolshoi Opera House, which is repairing now.

Also is known all over the world and Maly Theater. Other Drama Theatres and studios are also very popular. The Moscow’s population has very good education, because there are over 150 higher educations in it.
