What is Anime?
Anime is Japanese cartoons. The world outside Japan calls it “Japanese animation”. Anime first appeared in 1917. Anime, like manga (Japanese comics), has a large audience in Japan and high recognition throughout the world.
A little bit of history
Anime appeared at the beginning of the 20th century, when Japanese filmmakers experimented with the animation techniques. Then Anime appeared in France, Germany, the United States and Russia. The oldest anime was first screened in 1917. That was a two-minute clip about a samurai trying to test a new sword on his target. The first sound anime was Chikara to Onna no Yo no Naka, released in 1933.
By the 1930s, animation had become an alternative format of storytelling. Unlike in the United States, the live-action industry in Japan remained a small market and suffered from budgeting, location, and casting restrictions. The lack of Western-looking actors, for example, made it impossible to shoot films like in Europe, America. But Animation gave possibility to create any characters and settings.
The success of The Walt Disney Company`s 1937 feature film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs influenced Japanese animators. In the 1960s, manga artist and animator Osamu Tezuka adapted and simplified many Disney animation-techniques to reduce costs and to limit the number of frames in productions.
The 1970s saw the growth of popularity of manga, some of them were later animated. The work of Osamu Tezuka drew particular attention: he has been called a “legend” and the “god of manga”. His work inspired those who work with Anime. The giant robot genre (known as “Mecha” outside Japan), for instance, took shape under Tezuka, developed into the Super Robot genre under Go Nagai and others, and was revolutionized at the end of the decade by Yoshiyuki Tomino who developed the Real Robot genre. Robot anime like the Gundam and The Super Dimension
Fortress Macross series became real classics in the 1980s, and the robot genre of anime is still one of the most popular in Japan and worldwide today.
My opinion
In my opinion, anime is not just a Japanese cartoon, it`s a whole world, where heroes are divided into kind and evil, and choose the side which befits them most of all. In Anime the good not always defeats the evil. They Help you to find something in new in yourslf. There is always friendship and love, even if it`s horror genre. Let`s take for example anime “Full Metal Alchemist”. Protagonist, Edward Elric, lost his right arm and left leg, trying to revive his mother. His aim was to give his brother a good life. It`s a vivid example of the brotherly love!
Or the Anime ” Bleach “. Ichigo Kurosaki became shinigami due to Rukia kuchiki, who gave himsome forces, and Ichigo was able to protect his family from ” Hollow “.
Every hero in Anime is good, wether he is reckless and devilish charming, like Grimmjow Jeagerjaques, or taciturn and cool, like Ulquiorra Shiffer (Bleach) or naive and weak, like Mizuki Segava (Guyver).
Anime is the world of adventures, which Tightens you. And I don`t understand, why people reprobate it. They consider that we, “otaku”, are weird, only because we collect anime, cards and so on. Is there anything bad?
For me Anime is more than just fascination. Due to it I`ve met a lot of interesting people, began to draw, study Japanese, history and culture of this country.
