Joe manna – live every moment like it’s your last

When you die, you will have many regrets. Live without regret. Live without void. Really, who is going to say to themselves, “Man, I wish I didn’t do […]”? I’ve pondered this recently and while I don’t have all the answers, I think I’m onto something here.

We all wish for material items. We all wish for the next iPhone, iPad, Android, Google TV, etc. When you die, those things don’t matter. Doubt me? Go to TechCrunch and look at everything on the page – will you miss any of it when you die?

When you die, it’s the relationships and the people that you think about that matters. It’s the experiences and the challenges that we go through that make us stronger, fulfilled and eternally complete.

I don’t want to die with my iPhone in hand. I don’t want to die in front of a keyboard. I don’t want to die watching TV. I don’t want to die alone. This is emptiness, these are things I think about if I died right now, that would be what I look at from up above (or from below).

I’d rather die going 300MPH land-speed on four wheels. I’d rather die skydiving. I’d rather die with people who I care about. See the difference? I won’t regret any of those things. I would have been completely okay leaving this world with this sense of achievement.

After you die, what are you leaving? Are you leaving a legacy for others to learn about? With a legacy, have you really died? Consider Thomas Edison or Marie Curie; they died ages ago and we still know them. We carry their ideas and sense of innovation and creativity. In essence, their bodies perished, but not them.

If you are sitting at work, watching the clock, hoping it’s 5:00…

If you are annoyed at the infomercials on TV…

If you don’t like who you are…

If you dread waking up…

If you are bored…

DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Change it up. You won’t regret doing it. We are creatures of habit and that aspect hasn’t solved death. We might as well make the best of it. Take advantage of every moment you have and feel great from it. Feel pain, fear, anger, sadness, lust, love – feel something. Because when you die, you’re not going to feel a thing and you’ll only have your memories to look back on.

Live every moment like it’s your last.
