From moscow to suburbs by express streetcar

The capital of Russia is going to get the first line of express streetcar, which will connect the city with Balashikha in the east of Moscow. This has been reported by the City Department of transport and development of road transport infrastructure of Moscow. Initially, the streetcar will run from Ilyich Square to Ivanovskoye along Enthusiasts highway, and then the line will be extended to Balashikha. Also, there are plans to link the districts of Lianozovo and Bibirevo to the settlement of Severny by means of the express streetcar. It is assumed that the residents of Balashikha will be able to save 15-20 minutes per day due to the fact that there are no traffic jams in their way.

Currently, express streetcars are used in Izhevsk and Volgograd, Ust-Ilim and Stary Oskol. The construction of such streetcar lines has already begun in Tula, while in such cities as Moscow, St. Petersburg, Cheboksary, Kirov, Irkutsk, Lipetsk, Belgorod, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Penza, they are still at the design stage. The main advantage of this mode of transport is that it can transport twice as many passengers per day as the regular streetcar – about 20 thousand people daily.
