Since the Internet has become widely available, public interest to museums ans galleries has fallen significantly. However, the UK government continue spending huge sums of money on cultural attractions instead of sublidising more important things.
Some experts believe that visual and performing arts have become minority interests by now, and they insist on the opinion that people who enjoy these cultural attractions should pay for them. However, if they supported museums and galleries themselves, the ticket prices would increase dramatically. As a result, few tourists and museums amators would attend galleries and, сщтыкйгутеднб less investments would appear. As a result, ther wouldn`t be enough to keep exhibits in appropriate conditions, so some of them might be destroyed and lost forever. And what about children, who don`t earn any money to support culturу but need museums badly to explore world history and culture?
On the other hand, the government should spend similar sums of money on other important things. But what are they? What can be more important than culture? Health care facilities, education and social programs are sublidised even better than culture. Bu if the government decided to spend half of the investments on education, for instanse, theoretical knowledge wouldn`t be suppoted with practical one. As a result, there would be a great disbalance in various sciences and subjects. Consequently, the general level of education woulв be lower., as knowledge wouldn`t be supported by practical experience anв cultural haritage. And what about people who work in cultural field and who may be made redundant because of the decline of financial support?
So, we have seen that cultural attractions are vitally importantfor both country prosperity and citizrns` educational level. That`s why local authorities should support museums and galleries but probably the investments should be slightly reduced.
