Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam has hailed the performance put in by striker Luis Suarez during Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Sunderland.
The Uruguay international blew a chance to put the Reds ahead when he ballooned a penalty over the bar, but redeemed himself in less than five minutes by sending a header into the back of the net.
And the former Blackpool man appears to be impressed with the forward, who managed to score despite suffering from the effects of having played in the Copa America tournament this summer.
“It’s good to see him back because he’s a top player,” Adam told the club’s official website.
“Everybody has been talking about how good he is. I think you could see why he is at this club. Like I say, he’s a top player and he took his goal well.”
For his part, Adam was making his Premier League debut for the Reds, and managed to put in an impressive performance that was capped by an assist.
He said: “It was nice to get the assist but the important thing is the team winning.
“We are disappointed with a draw. It’s not the best start but there are still plenty of games to go.”
