If you’ve been looking to grab yourself a tablet, maybe the smart thing to do is to wait for an additional month or two. During the next couple of months, few really cool products will be launched, some of which could easily make you regret your earlier purchase. Among all of the tablets that will be released in the near future I’ve found these 9 to be particularly interesting:
Sony S1 and S2
Good ol’ Sony is well known for its high-end gear. Obviously they don’t want to compete with the low – and even mid-end brands; hence they needed to innovate somehow. Both of their upcoming tablets, S1 and S2, offer a bit different experience. While the S1 has that curved design to resemble a folded magazine, the S2 gets its coolness from its two screens that can work either separately or as one big screen. Moreover, the S2 is also easy to carry around and as such deserved a place in my personal top 3 list.
Asus Eee Pad Slider
Here’s a tablet for folks who always need a keyboard. Personally I find the Transformer to be a better purchase, but not everyone agrees with me. I would appreciate the Slider if it’s smaller and hence lighter. That sliding keyboard under the 10.1-inch screen makes it too bulky.
Huawei MediaPad
This little fellow may easily be one of the best buys this year. Huawei may use it to get some love among tech aficionados in the Western hemisphere and if it makes the device affordable, the Chinese company could easily move quite a few units in record amount of time. If you recall, the MediaPad is a 7-inch tablet with aluminum body and powerful specs that include a dual-core processors, two cameras, HSPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS, while Android 3.2 Honeycomb is running the show.
Asus Eee Pad MeMO and Acer Iconia A100
Similarly to the MediaPad, these two 7-inch tablets could prove popular among the mainstream consumers. Both shouldn’t break anyone’s bank,
while offering great value for the money. This translates into dual core “experience” which is also “easy to carry around.”
Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9
In my humble opinion 8.9-inch screens are perfect for a tablet device. You can type with your thumbs and the screen is big enough to justify an additional device (considering that your phone could easily come with a 4.3-inch display). Sammy’s baby looks impressive, it’s light and… I love it. It’s one of my top picks.
Asus Padfone
Last but *definitely* not the least – Padfone is a remarkable device. It’s not a tablet per se, but an additional bigger screen that gives you all of the benefits tablet offers without having to pay for another device. If you remember, it’s a smartphone with a tablet dock. I love it, I want it and I must have it.
HP TouchPad
I’m sure there are still webOS fans out there. The platform seems to be stagnating at the moment, even though HP said they are committed to drive it forward. They will definitely want to make it enterprise friendly and the only question is whether developers will jump on board and make it even cooler with their apps. It should be out soon when we’ll have all the answers…
All said, I’m not saying products that are already available suck by any means. Quite the contrary, you’ll be good if you grab the Apple iPad 2, Motorola Xoom, HTC Flyer or Asus Transformer. I just wanted to show you what’s coming soon so if you still haven’t “pushed the button” to re-think the decision prior to spending your hard-earned cash.
